Mooger asked me the other day "what's your deal with Jackson Browne?"

Well first of all we sing in the same frequency range, so almost all of his songs I can sing comfortably.

But more than that he has experienced a lot of pain and loss in his life from losing people close to him, which I've been through also so I relate to a lot of the themes in his songs.

And then another thing I identify with is he applies a gospel feel to non-religious themes in his songs, Rock Me On The Water, Fountain Of Sorrow, For A Dancer, Farther On etc. and I like that because...

I believe there is a transcendental aspect to human consciousness not defined by religion...but it does exist.

And here's one of the Jackson Browne songs I play on guitar which was originally written and played on piano, and it does sound quite different portrayed that way but I think still captures the spirit of the song.

So I guess all of us who are serious about music, as I am, have our mentors, people we look up to and perhaps even emulate, but I'm not emulating anyone in my original music although I may pay tribute to them.

But here's my FAVORITE Jackson Browne song of all time:

                    Yup.

That, and "Your Bright Baby Blues" are my two favorites. What a fucking beautiful tune.

It appears that there is a lack of consensus here.
