Men, I've been considering buying a small used tractor.

I believe it could help me with various tasks at my woodland retreat, especially if I have aims on living there eventually.

I just learned about all the things you can attach to a tractor with 3 point hitch and PTO.

Likely I'll need to keep the budget reasonable, but I am seeing old functional tractors in the $2000-$5000 range in the area around my woodland retreat, some with attachments like front end loaders, etc.

Any suggestions from the Tractorati around here would be welcome.

Having about 1/2 mile of road that's up to me to maintain is one of the motivations for my consideration.

Yeah, that would save a lot of time & effort.

Plus, tractors can be fun to mess around with.

Bobcats can be had in various configurations (tracks or wheels) and with attachments.

They seem to be expensive as fuck from what I've seen.

Tractors are more cool than Bobcats.

The cool thing about tractors is they're not just a vehicle for pushing and pulling, but a multipurpose engine on wheels.

There are all sorts of attachments you can hook up to the PTO; I've seen log splitters, post hole diggers, rototillers, etc.

you can hook up a generator to the pto also, which may be very useful out in the woods
